Convento de San Francisco legal document : Mexico City, Mexico, 1728 July 23.

Manuscript document on paper bearing a legal stamp for the years 1725 and 1726 from the ecclesiastical authorities of a convent in Mexico City reaffirming that the Capilla [ie. Chapel] was originally a gift of the Marques del Valle Hernan Cortés, and in particular, that the right to be buried in the chapel is reserved to the family of Cortés and whomever else they choose to permit to be buried there, the members of the [Franciscan] order, and that no other persons may be buried there without their permission. Further, that the bones of a certain "Contador de su Magestad" who had been buried without the Cortés family permission are to be disinterred. Part of the document is a "copia de la patente" which is dated August 4, 1575, which is to be found in a certain book in the archive of the convent.
